In December 2011 another 11 Castor (casks used for the transport and storage of the radioactive material) containers carrying highly radioactive nuclear waste reached the temporary storage hall in Gorleben (Northern Germany).

20.000 police forces accompanied the high radioctive waste transport. tens of tousand protesters blocked its way from La Hague (France) to Gorleben by demonstrations, sit-ins and direct actions like locking their bodys into concrete blocks on the tracks. Because of the massive protests the transport has needed 126 houres to reach the nuclear facility. Thus this was the longest transportation time ever. Gorleben is legendary for its 35 years of peoples mass civil disobedience against the use of nuclear energy in Germany.
