Gezi Park Protests Turkey, 40000 protesters cross the Bosphorus Bridge

Taksim Gezi Park Occupation – May June 2013 (Istanbul, Turkey)
Initially this was an environmental protest of around 50 people camping out in Gezi Park to prevent it’s demolition by bulldozer. The police used tear gas to disperse the peaceful protesters and burned their tents. Photos of the brutal dawn raid quickly spread worldwide prompting outrage and widespread protests in Turkey, including this walk of around 40,000 across the Bosphorous Bridge, and around the world in a fight for democracy, freedom and human rights.
